Today was another good day for the twins, both are feeding on three hourly feeds. Chloe is now feeding almost all from the bottle at the moment with only small amounts having to go through the naso-gastric tube. Shannon is now taking part of her feeds from the bottle but most of the feeds are still been put through her naso-gastric tube.
More good news today was that both babies have put on nearly 2oz in weight over the last two days, which is a big relief to me and Emma.
Also today I did the cares for Chloe, and then had a cuddle at which point she decided to bring up her lunch all over me - well I have to get used to been vomitted on, its the priviledge of been a dad!!. Emma did the cares for Shannon and also gave fed her via bottle and then tube.
I didn't get chance to see the girls today because I was working in the evening, but Emma went along to care for both babies. Both Chloe and Shannon had their first baths today - a photo of Shannon's bath is in the photo album page. Chloe has had her naso-gastric tube taken out because she is feeding so well, she has been moved onto 4 hourly feeds of 60mls, Shannon on the other hand decided to take out her tube but this was put back in and she was given mits to wear to stop her pulling it out again. Shannon is still on 3 hourly feeds of 40mls and she is now tolerating her feeds.
Shannon has also had a sticky eye since birth but at long last this looks like it is responding to eye drops and starting to become less and less sticky.

Today we got to the hospital at around 4pm, which was just in time to first feed Chloe who took 60mls by bottle and then to feed Shannon who took 10mls by bottle at 33mls by the NGT. Both babies have put weight on again they are both at 4lbs 5oz, which is significant because Chloe is now at her birth weight.

We only stayed at the hospital for three hours today because Emma was feeling run down and tired, we still had chance to feed both babies and also do their cares
The doctor also came and took some blood off Chloe to check her bilirubin levels, this was the first time we heard Chloe scream out loud - so in the space of one week we have heard both babies cry and scream, which is another good sign.
Today we have the staff nurses have started the to wean the babies onto our own bottles and not the hospital ones, this is so they continue to feed after they have been released from hospital.
